Undying Loyalty

The word loyalty means 1: the state of being loyal; fidelity and 2: faithfulness or devotion to some person, cause or nation.

Some stores, airlines, banks and gas companies have what is sometimes called “loyalty cards”.  We earn points that when we accumulate enough, it entitles us to free merchandise or trips.  Would we be this loyal to these companies if there were not the incentives offered?

Also when we think of loyalty we think of a “loyal sports fan”.  it is easy to be a loyal sports man and support our team when it is doing GREAT!  During those winning streaks more and more people will often “jump on the bandwagon”.  But how about when your team is the bottom team in the league?  It is SO tough to stay loyal, and many fans do fall away.  I admire so much those who are able to do stay loyal through both winning streaks AND losing streaks.

In the Bible Peter brazenly announces his ultimate dedication of undying loyalty when he replies to Jesus “I am ready to die for you” (John 13:37).  But later in scripture when the going got tough Peter denied that he even knew Jesus.

Human loyalty often is very fickle.  But even though sometimes we mess up and fail, God is always loyal and faithful.  God’s loyalty is unconditional.  Deuteronomy 31:8 says, “The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be discouraged; do not be afraid.”

  1. Absolutely Carl! God is ever faithful, true and of course loyal to the very end. Despite how we mess up and put up a hardened heart to His command; He is always there whenever we call His holy name. This is just something words can’t describe and all I can say is thank you Jesus for having my back all the time.
    Thanks Carl.

  2. HA! I tend to be a fair weather fan at times, especially if the home team isn’t scoring and the weather is indeed fair….;)

But yes, God is forever loyal to us, if only we could be as much towards him.

    • I love that term “fair weather fan” when it comes to sports teams and yeah even the weather. I have my moments as well….lol.

What a difference from God’s loyalty. The dawn of each new day is a testimony to that!
