Wisdom and Knowledge

This past week marks the 25th anniversary of what is known as the World Wide Web. The very 1st computer networking concept began as early as 1965, but it would take another 26 years before it would be reinvented and refined for that global system of interconnected computer networks to be made public to use as the World Wide Web.

Tim Berners-Lee was an English nuclear scientist who does not have household name status. But he is the person who invented the World Wide Web, and that was only 27 years ago in 1989 while he was working at a company called Cern. At the time he thought it was “just another program”. It was 2 years later that the 1st webpage was created.  It is an incredible thought, out of all the millions of websites currently out there, there was a first one.  You can actually view Tim Berners-Lee’s 1st website right here.

From that plain text website 25 years ago internet technology has exploded.  We now share photos, download music and communicate to others around the world right from the palm of our hand.  With the use of this technology our world has gotten much smaller.

The Book of Daniel in the Old Testament was written well over 2,000 years ago, yet there is a verse that is extremely accurate for these high tech days in which we live.

It is found in Daniel 12:4, “But you Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase”

There are two things that jump put of this verse.  The 1st is how we travel.  The 2nd is how far advanced we have become of our knowledge of technology.

And as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the World Wide Web it is hard to imagine that the entire internet weighs in at 50 grams, or about the weight of a strawberry.

It is exciting times to live in an era where there is so much knowledge and information.  But ultimately it all comes from God.  Proverbs 2:6 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom from His mouth comes knowledge and understanding”.

    • Thanks April. I remember that verse being somewhere, and got on the internet to search where it was found. I have a concordance that I used to use way back before the days of the internet.:)

It is indeed strange times we are living in though.

Thanks for reading and sharing! 🙂
